What is Negritude Fest?
Negritude Fest is a free, all-ages cultural festival dedicated to uplifting and celebrating the Afro-diasporic community in Los Angeles, with a particular focus on amplifying queer and femme experiences.
Negritude Fest takes its name from the Negritude movement, a global literary and cultural movement that championed Black identity, pride, and resistance.
Inspired by this legacy, our festival celebrates Afro-diasporic culture, through a dynamic blend of music, art, storytelling, and community engagement. Negritude Fest creates an inclusive, intersectional space that fosters connection, visibility, and joy.
The 2025 festival features six hours of immersive programming, including workshops, live music, meetups, movement sessions, panel discussions, and more. Negritude Fest brings together an intergenerational and vibrant community of people from all cultures and countries of origin who seek deeper connections with other local members of the Afro Diaspora.

What is The Road to Negritude vs. Negritude Fest?
The Road to Negritude is a series of pre-festival events leading up to Negritude Fest. These activations take place throughout the year and offer opportunities to engage with the community, experience Negritude’s ethos in action, and build excitement for the main event. Think of it as a journey that deepens connections before we gather at the festival!
Negritude Fest, on the other hand, is the culminating event—a full-day celebration bringing everything together in one immersive experience.
-
Where is Negritude Fest taking place?
Negritude Fest will be held at LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes, a cultural hub dedicated to uplifting Latinx and Indigenous histories and experiences in Los Angeles. We are honored to partner with LA Plaza, as its mission aligns with our goal of creating a space for community, history, and cultural celebration.
-
What does it mean to center queer femmes at Negritude Fest?
Negritude Fest is a celebration of Afro-Diasporic culture in Los Angeles. As part of that, we intentionally center queer femmes, whose identities are often at the forefront of liberation and social justice movements, yet are rarely recognized or uplifted. Our commitment is to create a space where queer femme identities are seen, respected, appreciated, and celebrated.
